Analysis of the Dark Knight Trailer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KGFG-PhPxs&NR=1

The official movie trailer 'Dark Knight' has an element of different types of genre including Action/Crime/Thriller. The trailer starts with a Birdseye view shot of batman swooping down off a building, so straight away there is an action element. This is followed by a few other Birdseye view shots giving the impression that someone is looking down. The trailer uses sharp cuts and edits of the film throughout.

The trailer starts with a shot of the productions company which is Warner Brothers. However the logo appears to have been edited rather than the light blue colour it has changed to a dark blue smokey colour to create an eerie, intensifying effect.

Throughout the trailer there are no graphic captions until the end when the title of the film is shown. Throughout the trailer the editing cuts appear faster towards the end this keeps the audience intrigued.

There are fades ins and outs throughout the film to create tention and also to switch the setting. The trailer ends with a graphic caption which is hardly used throughout the trailer showing when the film will be screening.

Analysis Of Dark Knight Magazine Front Cover

Empire magazine has used a picture of the Joker as their main image. It is a long shot of him sitting down, Empire magazine usualy uses long shots for the front page so you can see the full costume, hair and make-up, and so this gives the audience an immediate representation of the character.

The image is centred in the middle of the page which signifies its importance, which is a marketing technique. The character cover the 'Empire' writing at the front which also highlights the films importance.
The joker is sitting down upright with his head tilted dowmwards looking straight at the camera, this makes the audience feel intimidated almost as if the character is watching.

The costume which is purple and green is complimented by the puffs around the image which are also the same colours. The puffs on the left side show what other things are inside the magazine such as other films like 'I am legend'. The main tagline is 'Joker' which is obviously the name of the character in the picture. Underneath says 'one-on-one with Batmans new nemesis' showing that there is an interview with Batmans enemy.

The logo from batman, which is also presented in the poster is shown on the magazine at the top of the page. Around the logo it s says the title of the film 'Dark Knight' and on the other side 'World Exclusive' representing that the film is Universal.
